06.26.15. This day at the end of June was the day that the Supreme Court ruled on Obergefell v. Hodges, granting all couples equal rights to marry in the U.S.. When we met with Sarah & Megan they said that they had wanted to wait to marry until it was legal where they live, Michigan, our home state. Another aspect of their decision to wait to marry until they could do so at home had to do with wanting to celebrate in their community with the support of local vendors. We were honored to be asked to contribute by creating rings for them.
Sarah & Megan had a gold millegrain band set that they had worn for the last 10 years, and wanted to incorporate into the wedding rings. After reviewing many of our designs they were drawn to the raw diamond alignment rings paired with a gold band. We proposed recycling their existing gold bands into a band that would relate stylistically to the rustic raw diamonds. They chose to add Fairmined gold to the bands to bring the karat up from 14k to a richer yellow gold like the bezel-setting of the diamond ring.
We love the result of this set they designed, rustic and elegant, and just the perfect thing to celebrate #lovewinning. Congratulations Sarah & Megan on your wedding day!
